Introduction
The World Association of Perinatal Medicine (WAPM) is registered as a non-profit organization in Barcelona, G.V. CARLES III, NUM. 71 08028 BARCELONA – (Tax number-NIF G65768699), Spain
When you join WAPM as a “member” you are subscribing to a service provided by the company and charity, the object of which is the protection and preservation of health by promoting the science of obstetrics and perinatal medicine and education therein for the benefit of the public. The word “member” or “membership” refers to your subscription or your status as a subscriber to the service.
Articles of the WAPM Constitution related to the membership:
Article 6. Any natural persons may belong to the Association who, of their own free will take an interest in and are involved with its purposes, fulfil the following requirements:
They have the legal capacity to act.
They are of age.
They are natural persons who have a particular interest in perinatal medicine, in any of its fields, (healthcare of pregnant women, foetuses and newborn babies).
To become a member, with the exception of honorary members, those interested must submit a written application to the Board of Trustees, which shall make a decision on the application at its first meeting held following its submission and inform the AGM of its decision at the next meeting. The Board of Trustees shall inform applicants of the acceptance or rejection of their application by registered letter within three months of receiving it. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to reject any application.
Article 7. The Association shall have the following classes or types of members or fellows:
a) Regular members. Any medical professional or recent graduate in Medicine, as well as any other person able to give support to the purposes established in article 4 herein.
b) Honorary members. This status shall be granted to any national or foreign personalities who in addition to being outstanding in the field of perinatal medicine have stood out for their support of the Association and its purposes. Membership status and appointments shall be decided on the proposal of the Board of Trustees and approved by the AGM.
Article 8. Members may be removed on any of the following grounds:
a) Voluntary resignation, which must be notified to the Board of Trustees in writing.
b) Failure to meet any financial obligations, whenever a member has been required to do so by the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees, following which the member in breach has failed to remedy the situation within 30 days of being served notification of such. This notification must be sent via email.
c) A member being imposed a sanction by a professional association or any other disqualification related to the discharge of professional duties.
d) A breach by a member of the ethical standards to which a healthcare professional is subject.
e) A member’s death.
f) Removal approved by a two-third majority of the members ofthe Board of Trustees.
g) Failure to attend the World Congress of Perinatal Medicine.
Members who lose their membership, on whatsoever grounds, shall not be entitled to any indemnity nor to any share of the Association’s equity.
Membership status is not transferable under any circumstances.
All members who are subject to any of the cases listed above, with the exception of the situation anticipated in point a), shall lose their membership subsequent to being notified of such by the Board ofTrustees by post with acknowledgement of receipt, whereby the loss of membership shall come into effect on the last day ofthe month in which this notification was served.
Article 9. The members shall have the following rights:
a) To attend meetings with a right to have a say and vote.
b) To vote for and be eligible to stand for executive posts or positions of representation, with the exception of the cases set forth below.
c) To exercises any powers of representation that may have been granted to them.
d) To be involved in the Association’s governance and related procedures, its services and activities, pursuant to legal regulations and the provisions of the Articles of Association.
e) To bring up any matters at the AGM and before the Board of Trustees that they consider may contribute to improving the Association’s work or making the attainment of its basic objectives more efficient.
f) To request and obtain explanations about the administration and management of the Board of Trustees or the Association’s agents.
g) To have a say prior to any disciplinary measures being adopted.
h) To receive information about the Association’s activities and projects, as well as about any aspects of scientific interest related to its purposes.
i) To form part of work groups.
j) To use any standard services that the Association may put in place or have available to it.
k) To consult the Association’s Books.
Honorary members shall not be entitled to sit on the Board of Trustees.
Article 10. The members shall have the following obligations:
a) To commit to the Association’s purposes and take an active role in fulfilling them.
b) To contribute to the running of the Association through the payment of fees, special levies and other financial contributions that are set in the Articles of Association or that may be approved pursuant to them.
c) To fulfil the obligations provided for in the Articles of Association.
d) To abide by and enforce any resolutions validly passed by the Association’s governing bodies.
A breach of any of the obligations established herein, with the exception of the provisions of point b) above, which shall be grounds for removal from the Association as provided for in article 8, may give rise to the withdrawal of membership status, subsequent to a resolution being passed by the Board of Trustees and the member in question being served notification of such.
Should membership status be withdrawn, the rights and obligations ofthe member affected shall be suspended. The body with the powers to lift this suspension shall be the Board of Trustees which may do so at any time by passing a resolution. Should this suspension be lifted, the member in question shall be served written notification of such.

General users – visitors to the WAPM website
WAPM does not collect any personal information from users visiting and browsing its website. Only aggregate data such as the number of visits per page are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information. We collect IP addresses to track visits by the use of cookies.

Use of cookies
In addition to the information you submit to us via the WAPM website, WAPM may collect information about visits to the site. WAPM collects information on page browser access. This is used within WAPM to improve the design, layout and content of its site and to support the development of new products and services. WAPM gathers information on the relative popularity of each page, the average number of pages accessed by visitors, the number of emails sent or files downloaded, and the average time spent on the site. None of this information is linked back to you as individual.

Conditions of membership: right to refuse applications
WAPM membership is open to any individual interesting in promoting the objects of the charity. Once a member submits an application to become a member or to renew membership the member receives an automated welcome message and for new members login details into the member area of the WAPM website. WAPM reserves its right not to fulfil or to cancel a member application at any time. If a member is accepted into WAPM membership and subsequently it turns out that any or all of the information they provided was misleading or false: WAPM reserves its right to revoke the membership with immediate effect, without the right of appeal.
Membership period
Membership runs for 12 consecutive months from the date when a member has applied and paid for their membership.
Members who register to attend the World Congress Perinatal Medicine will have membership included in the registration fee.
During each 12 month period, members consent to receiving from WAPM:
- Renewal notices from 2 months before the end of their current membership
Members can unsubscribe from direct emails and payment reminders at any time, however if they do not opt out, they will automatically receive these communications as part of the membership service.
Conditions of membership: membership cancellation
A member of WAPM who has subscribed to WAPM membership can cancel their membership anytime by contacting WAPM in writing at [email protected]. Members who cancel their membership are removed from membership with effect from the date on which their resignation is received by WAPM and all their member benefits and rights cease at that time. No refunds are given for membership cancellation.
Conditions of membership: individual members’ obligations
WAPM expects of its members the highest standards of excellence, integrity, respect, inclusiveness. These values and expectations form the basis of WAPM Constitution that members are requested to abide by.
Events
Members may be notified of or invited to events organised by or in partnership with WAPM such as Perinatal Medicine Foundation, World School of Perinatal Medicine if such events are considered to be of value and benefit to members. Our events may be subject to separate terms and conditions. Please check these at the time of booking.
Price Information
Any fees displayed on the WAPM website are subject to change without notice.
We reserve the right to increase the price of products and services from time to time.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and conditions are governed by Spanish law. You hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Spanish courts notwithstanding the jurisdiction where you are based.
If any court or competent authority decides that any of the provisions of these terms are invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, the term will, to that extent only, be severed from the remaining terms, which will continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by the law.
A person who is not party to these terms shall not have any rights under on in connection with them under the Spanish Law
Liability
- Liability for third parties: WAPM’s liability to its members will not extend to any membership related benefits, goods or services provided by an external provider. WAPM specifically excludes liability for any loss or damage suffered by a member as a result of her/his involvement in whatever manner with an external provider.
- Accuracy of WAPM information: reasonable effort is made to ensure the accuracy of information provided on our website, in newsletters, and any other publications; however, neither we nor the authors can accept liability for errors and omissions within its publications.
- WAPM website: The WAPM website may contain links to other websites, which in turn may contain material that has been produced by third parties not affiliated with us. We have no control over those other websites and accept no responsibility or liability for information or content provided on such websites.
- Unauthorised providers: unfortunately many large international conferences are now being targeted by fraudulent or unauthorised websites offering accommodation and online registrations to delegates and exhibitors. Often these websites are designed to look like official Congress websites, but they are not. Please be vigilant when making plans for Congress and book accommodation either via this website or directly with the hotel. Online registration for WAPM Congresses and events is only ever provided through worldperinatal.org or www.perinatalmedicine.org
Even if data encryption is used, the security of information transmitted via the internet cannot be guaranteed. Any losses incurred or sustained by users who transmit information by electronic means shall be borne solely and exclusively by such user and in no event shall any such losses in whole or in part be borne by us. Force Majeure
Neither party shall be liable to the other for any delay or non-performance of its obligations by reason of matters beyond its control including, but not limited to, any act of terrorism, war, riot, civil commotion, compliance with any law or government order, fire, flood or storm, strikes, or any other industrial dispute, delay in transit, power failure, postal delay, or any event that cannot be reasonably be planned for or avoided.
These Terms and Conditions do not and shall not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. A person who is not party to these Terms shall not have any rights under or in connection with them under the Contracts.
Variations to this agreement
These terms and conditions may be changed at any time. The most recent edition of these terms and conditions will be binding upon WAPM member, subscribers, and users. WAPM Members may exit the contract if they do not accept any proposed variation. These terms and conditions override any contrary terms or conditions published in relation to any membership subscription between a member and WAPM.
Queries, complaints, comments
We will endeavour to respond within 72 hours to any complaint or query received. This may be an acknowledgement that we have received a complaint whilst further investigations are carried out.
